SUBSTAINABILITY
We are committed to using suppliers and materials that help us reach the goal to become a 100% sustainable and ethical business. We are making clothes for future generations and consider it imperative that throughout the design, sourcing and production process we protect their future. For Autumn | Winter 2020 over 85% percent of the collection is made from either sustainable, natural or organic fabrics.
HEMP FABRICS
From plants cultivated in the mountains of Northern China: comfortable, breathable and cool to touch. It is one of the strongest natural fibres and it’s anti-bacterial properties along with its resistance to UV rays make is a wonderful fabric for enduring garments and accessories. The fibre produced from pure hemp is similar to linen in texture. It can also be blended with other natural fibres to create fabrics with the durability of hemp and the softness of cotton or bamboo. Amazingly Hemp also returns 60-70% of the nutrients it takes from the soil. Not only is hemp gentle on the earth, it also requires very little water, especially when compared to cotton, which, according to Slate uses “about 50 percent more water per season than hemp.” But that’s not all. According to the same article, “When you add processing into the equation, cotton uses more than four times as much water as hemp.”
GOTS certified organic cottons
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. Many of our fabrics use GOTS certified cottons, often combined with silk or Hemp fibres.
RECYCLED PET
Reduces landfill by using recycled plastics and water bottles to create new textiles. These textiles created from recycled PET can be continuously recycled with no degradation of quality.
NATURAL FABRICS
Cotton: We have made a conscious effort to use many natural fabrics in our collections as we know these will biodegrade much faster and in a less damaging way than synthetic fibres.
PRODUCTION
We only produce to order plus a modest amount to sell on our own E-commerce channels. We do not make bulk and push to sale or do heavy discounting. This means we do not have inventory issues, we have limited stock and available and once it’s sold out, it’s gone. Buy Less - Buy Better!
