Spring / Summer 2015!

Milk & Biscuits is proud (and more then a little excited) to present a sneak peek of our Spring / Summer 2015 collection. This summer we embraced simple patterns – diamonds, tiny crosses and wide stripes. Combined in a bold palette of gorgeous blues, burnt orange and washed out reds. Included in the collection are waterproof raincoats for those spring showers to vintage style vests and floaty dresses for when the days get longer and the evenings brighter. As a special treat, our signature A-line jacket takes a trip to the Lido this summer with a beautiful print by the English illustrator Naomi Wilkinson. Her beautiful ‘Swimmers’ print also appears on 3/4 quarter length shorts for the boys and a fabulous skirt for the girls. All shall be available both here online and with our new and lovely retailers – Milly Mog, Yellow Lolly and Olive Loves Alfie in the UK from the 30th of January.

Those 70’s days

As a seventies child the beautiful images that the photographer Michelle Marshall shot for our Autumn/Winter collection brings back many memories, mainly of my over bearing siblings (are older siblings any other way?) muscling into my 1970’s ‘selfie’ moment.  They make me chuckle, something about being in those old passport booths invariably brought out the silly in us all.  Whether as a child, with your friends or with your first love,  it was a moment captured in 4 imperfect rectangles.

Biscuit Font

Oh my. This pic brings me happiness on so many levels! Pink wafers, chocolate bonbons, typography. Oh yes. Biscuits and type, bring it on you wonderful people from!

Nature Studies

I saw these poetic and beautiful images whilst I should have been doing something else and thought I must share them. Nature/nurture, growth/structure. The contrast between the freedom of the plants themselves and the structure remaining below – all serve to reflect many aspects of life itself. They are the work of the photographer Diana Scherer, who lives in Amsterdam. I have taken the following copy straight from her site “The process is painstakingly slow and Scherer’s dedication to her work, both above and below ground, is evident…“It took three years for me to discover the right working method and I had to try out lots of different flowers. Depending on the flower, I wait until the roots and the blossom are fully developed, which sometimes takes six months but other times just four. Often it doesn’t work out at all and, quite often, I found that the roots were too weak.”

Bubble London

Bubble London was fabulous. It was the first time that Milk & Biscuits has shown in England, we saw much, learnt lots and are looking forward to working with a great collection of bloggers, stylists and retailers when we launch in Autumn. We are also proud to say that we came ‘Runner Up’ alongside another new brand – Young Soles – for the coveted Rising Star award. Woop Woop.

On a side note, I must say I adore Little Jalo for creating the worlds classiest and cosiest hats & footmuffs. Another stand out was the delightful and super entertaining Jo from Love Frankie. Bold and beautiful designs for not only kids but homes. I must also say a huge thank you to the stylist /art director Fran Lee who managed to pull in some of our products at the 11th hour for the catwalk show.
